What An Amazing Sunset!

Last week when I was at my BFF's farm in Purcellville, VA we were going out to dinner after the horse show (after we finished all the chores and put all the horses up for the night). As we were leaving the barn and driving down her long driveway, I dug in my purse for my little camera, stuck my upper body out the window of her pick-up truck and took these photos of the most amazing sunset at Overlook Farm. It was a great opportunity to get a rare shot of a beautiful early summer sunset and that's why I always carry my little mini Nikon Coolpix S8000 in my purse!

Photo Of The Week 5-30-2011

I took this the other day when Nitro and I went on our walk. See the 7 geese in a group right behind the horses head? Those are my baby goslings with their parents and they grew up in like a week's time!

Last weekend I finally got to go to Northern Virginia and visit my best friend Teri (see the female trainer in the photos with long flowing blonde hair). It was a very busy weekend for her because she was taking her riding students to a "fun" Hunter Jumper Horse Show at a new facility in Great Falls Virginia. It was a ten hour day for all of us but the weather was perfect, and everyone had a great time. Here are some photos from our weekend. PS: I finally had my good camera with me so I could take some action shots!
There were many horses with spots (Appaloosa Horse) and girls with bows in their hair!
On a long hot show day we saw lots of tired horses and tired people!

These are the Turkey Vultures that live at my best friend's farm. There is like 30 or 40 of these big birds hanging around. According to my dog Lexi, you certainly would not want to drop dead nearby these big birds or the authorities might have a tough time finding the "remains" if you know what she means. Happy Pet Blog Hopping! Lexi and Christina

Since these two sweet dogs have a momma that is a tatoo artist to support her four sweet dogs, I thought I would add a "Mom" Tat to her dog Gery. Maddie is my nephew's wife and she is a big time dog lover like us. According to my dog Lexi, she needs a Tatoo with a double heart!

Saturday Pet Blogger Hop - 5-21-2011 - Taking A Walk With Nitro - Geese, Ground Hogs and Wild Turkeys

It has been raining here on Bluebird Farm for days and it is suppose to continue to rain for the next six days so Nitro and I got out on a walk (in between thunder storms) before it starts raining again. Here are some photos from our walk around the neighborhood. As you can see those Canadian goslings are getting bigger and  bigger not to mention everywhere we looked, everything was so lush and green. I am glad we are actually having a spring this year instead of jumping right into summer. We should have a really good hay crop this year and all of our wells should be filled to the rims! That makes for happy horses and happy farmers! Enjoy this beautiful season,  Lexi, Nitro, Tallulah, Bailey and Christina xoxoxo

See how much they have grown! There was six but only five made it this far. Last year we had six.

Big fat ground hog having diner by the neighbor's pond.

This is Cookie the neighbors horse (she is very sweet).

 Such a handsome chaperone!

I love this mailbox because it reminds me of simpler times.

Nitro walking with me. He got a bath last week for the Pet Expo and he is still really clean.

We have huge flocks  Wild Turkeys here on Bluebird Farm and every year we have a big batch of poults (baby tturkey chicks) following their parents around. In all my years here on the farm I have never seen a Tom Turkey. Well look what I spotted off in the distance! I took following photos below from a distance because I didn't want to interrupt old Tom Turkey's mating ritual. Isn't he just stunning? Spotting old Tom Turkey made my day.

Such a handsome devil!

We put Christmas lights on our cross in the yard five or six years ago to celebrate the birth of Jesus and they have remained on the cross since. When you come up our driveway in the evening as the sun is setting, the cross lights up from the sun setting. It really is stunning to see when Nitro and I walk up the driveway after our walks together.

(Bailey and Nitro on  a beautiful sunny spring day)

This photo was taken a couple of weeks ago (the last time we had sunny weather). It has been raining for almost 2 weeks straight so I thought if I at least posted one sunny photo that maybe, just maybe we would have a nice sunny weekend. Here's to the sun coming out again!
XOXOXOX  Lexi, Nitro, Bailey, Tallulah and Christina

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

Since it has been raining for weeks, I thought you would all enjoy some photos of what goes on inside the house on Bluebird Farm. At this point I have decided to just "let sleeping dogs lie" so I can get things done around the house. Here are some funny photos of my sleeping dogs on a rainy day (the white boxer is Nitro, the Shepherd mix is Bailey, the brindle Chug is Tallulah, and the brindle Min Pin is Lexi). Enjoy!

Like I always say "good dogs are tired dogs"....
