My name is Christina and this is what started out to be my dog/horse blog named after my dog Lexi. Slowly my blog has morphed into a dog/life/farm blog. I love to take photos of everything relating to the farm and local events. I am also a Design Junkie and love to take my old run down ranch and redesign every inch into my dream retreat. Join Lexi, myself and all the delightful creatures at Bluebird Farm and have a peek inside our wonderful world... "The World According To Lexi"
Lexi, Nitro, Tallulah, Bailey, and I are excited to participate in this weeks Saturday Pet Blogger Hop. This Saturday's Pet Blogger post is about the Birds of Bluebird Farm but I did want to share a video my husband Chris shot today of Nitro playing "King of The Hill" at the City of Salem Dog Park (and maybe just a couple of photos also). This is less then 1:30. Enjoy!
The Birds of Bluebird Farm
This week I have had a crazy Eastern Bluebird hitting my office window all day long in hopes of protecting his nest from what he sees as a threat when he is really just attacking his reflection. The good news is he was so close I got some decent shots of him. I also got some shots from my Android that I would like to share with all of you.
The following three photos I took with my Android Camera phone.
The bird is like "HELLO! I know your in there!"
He kept hitting the window and every time he hit the window all four dogs would bark.
The Mourning Doves are so beautiful but sometimes I forget they are eating seeds off the ground by my side doorway. Many times I will walk out to go to get into my car and there will be six to ten of these birds on the ground eating. It never fails, I forget they are around the corner in the first place, then WHAM!..they fly off in a full flock and give me a heart attack every single time! Darn birds!
Gosh Darn it! I almost had him! These woodpeckers are so illusive I can never get a good shot and wouldn't you know it I cut his head off in the only shot I got of him before he flew off never to return again.
Have a great weekend everyone. Thanks so much for "hopping by"..love ya..mean it! Lexi, Christina, Tallulah, Nitro and Bailey dog.

Unfortunately a pack of coyotes took this years baby crop of goslings so we won't have any babies running around the farm. With that being said, I thought I would rerun this blog post from this same week last year.
We had a lot more rain last year here on the farm. Not so much rain so far this year. I hope it rains soon and maybe our Canadian Geese will consider starting a (although late) nest of goslings to share with us this year.
At the bottom of this post ("Last Day at The Dog Park Before Heading To Rainbow Bridge") we met a nice lady at the park (I didn't catch her name or her pup's name) and she was going to be putting her dog to sleep later in the day (the golden pup has Canine Epilepsy and has bad seizures) so I told her I would take some photos of her and her golden on his last day on earth and post them here for her to view and copy. The photos are very sweet and I am so glad she brought her dog to the Salem Dog Park just to hang out with all the other dogs before the pup goes to Rainbow Bridge.
Enjoy the birds of Bluebird Farm and hug your pets everyday because you never ever know when it will be your last day on earth to show them how much you love them. Have a great weekend!

I love the reflection of the goslings in the water. They are such a beautiful family!
(In the photo above: these baby goslings are from last spring 2010 - 2011 goslings soon to come)
As you can see from these photos, the goslings are starting to look more like adult geese instead of little yellow ducklings. (In the above photo: these baby goslings are from last Spring 2010 - 2011 goslings soon to come)
Pool day! (In the photo above: these baby goslings are from last spring 2010 - 2011 goslings soon to come)
Another Eastern Bluebird here on Bluebird Farm. We have our Bluebird houses all filled up with Bluebirds laying thier spring eggs. I guess that will keep the tradition going around here on the farm.
I love the bright yellow coloring of this male American Goldfinch Isn't it funny how all the male birds are so much brighter then the female birds?
This is a Tufted Titmouse, Baeolophus bicolor These birds are fun to photograph because they break the sunflowers open with their beaks while holding on to them with both feet.
Fun shot of a Hummingbird mid-flight. I love my hummingbird feeders because they attract so many different kinds of Hummingbirds. Did you know Hummingbirds flap their wings 12-90 times per second (depending o the species)?
I decided to take some more photos of the birds on Bluebird Farm yesterday morning because with the overcast skies the lighting was perfect. If you are thinking photographing birds, you have to have a lot of patience and be in fairly good shape. By the time I was finished shooting these pictures, my back was locked up because I have to not move at all while holding the camera (while not moving at all) for a full hour. If I move, the birds catch my movement and then it takes forever for the birds to come back. I only have a limited amount of patience but yesterday was a great bird watching day!
This stunning creature is the Downy Woodpecker. The drumming of Downy Woodpeckers is a sign that winter is coming to an end. As soon as the Woodpeckers come to Bluebird Farm, I know warm weather is here to stay for awhile.
Here is a 25 second video of the Downy Woodpecker.
On the upper perch on the right side of this photo is a pretty red male House Finch and I'm not sure what the second bird on the lower perch is. It looks like a female House Finch except there shouldn't be any yellow on her wings so the color yellow has me perplexed as to what this species might be.
Last Day At The Dog Park Before Heading To Rainbow Bridge
Your moma will see you on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge Goldie Locks.
BEYOND THE RAINBOW
As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.
I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, an on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful - lush and green and wide
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do
I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright glow pierced the night
"Twas the glow of many candles, shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in it's brilliant shades of gold.
For although we may not be together in the way we used to be
We are still connected by a cord no one can see
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart
